With a winter snow warning in effect for early Sunday morning, slow road conditions and a new host mountain it was shaping up to be a good day for the Ontario stop of the Rome Premature Jibulation. The temperature dropped considerably just as the contest started and the snow began to fall again, causing blizzard conditions for part of the day. Nonetheless, 95 local shreds showed up to slide and jib around in hopes of winning some spanking new Rome goods.

Ullar is said to be the god of snow. So the legend goes, if you pray to this white bearded, Viking helmet wearing, Scandinavian behemoth, abundant snowfall will follow. Someone must have sacrificed a snowler-blader in the name of Ullars the day before the 5th annual Rome Premature Jibulation event was held at Mount Seymour on their opening day. Snow rang in as the clear winner showing up 54cm deep, giving the talented and hardworking park crew more then enough of the white stuff to set up one of the best jib parks we’ve seen at this event.

Rome SDS will be holding it’s final weekend of Premature Jibulations this weekend on December 20th at Skibowl in OR and on December 21st over at Glen Eden in Milton, ON. It’s been a great Pre Jib season so far, and this weekend should be more good times, so if you’re in the area, make the drive over and enjoy some hot dogs, product toss and a chance to win a new Rome board, bindings and jacket.

The Seven Springs Rome Premature Jibulation didn’t end up being premature in the end since, it was Opening Weekend! There was mid-winter like conditions and more park features than November shredding in Western PA has ever seen. Anytime you get hundreds of riders, a great park, music, free hot dogs, prizes, and place it all as close to a bar as possible, it’s pretty hard not to have a good time.

Unfortunately due to the ice storm that left 350,000 people without power in Massachusetts, Premature Jibulation will have to be cancelled at Nashoba Valley this season. Nashoba is in the process of working their ass off to get the mountain going again and clear fallen trees from the lift lines so everyone can get their shred on again.

Some Rome SDS Premature Jibulation will be going down this weekend at Nashoba Valley in Massachusetts, Mount Seymour in BC, Mad River in OH and Snow Valley in CA. Premature Jibulation is an open jib event to all snowboarders. The good times will be kicking off at 11, so be sure to be there early and sign up.

Ah yes, winter is here. Well kindof here, it’s still a little to brown outside for my taste. My first day of the season wasn’t like it has been for the past 15 years. Usually it’s opening day in Utah, at either Brighton or Snowbird. Shredding pow and tiptoeing around the mountain hitting all the wall hit’s, cat tracks, and avoiding the rocks. My opening day this season has been like a flash back to when I first started riding here in the Midwest. After linking up with my buddy Micah Mcginnitty we meet up in the parking lot of Trollhaugen, a local hill in Wisconsin.

Unfortunately, due to snow issues, Ski Bowl and the Rome SDS have had to decide to postpone the Premature Jibulation scheduled for this weekend until December 20th. It’ll be a couple weeks later than expected, but with more snow by the 20th there’s going to be some great shred, good times, and some ok hot dogs for all.

Saturday morning Colorado saw the first major snow we have seen all year! It was exactly what everyone had been waiting for! Echo Mountain didn’t quite have enough snow to open top to bottom, however they had plenty of snow to provide a rad set-up for the 3rd Annual Rome Premature Jibulation.
